Chilhuacle Negro Pepper (Capsicum annuum)

HEIRLOOM ancient pepper that is the central ingredient in mole negro. Grown mostly in the Cañada region of Oaxaca, the pepper is considered endangered due to disease, drought and agricultural decline. The fruits are round and trapezoidal shaped, dark green turning to brown and mahogany at maturity. Used in soups or rellenos fresh and dried at maturity for mole. Mildly spicy and fruity flavor. Start transplants 6-8 weeks before planting date. Plant spacing 14”. 90 days from transplants. Grown by Pueblo Seed. Certified Organic.
