Hell's Canyon Millet (Setaria italica)
Foxtail millet was first cultivated as much as 8000 years ago in China and has long been cultivated in India. Like other millets, it is a nutritional powerhouse with high concentrations of micronutrients, dietary fiber, vitamins, and phytochemicals, and resistant starch. Birds love this plant, making it for local wildlife, but for those who wish to harvest the grain some form of deterrent may be desirable! Plants grow 4’ tall, has slender leaves and a 3-4” seed head.
