Burrell Gem Melon (Cucumis melo)
Heirloom musk melon, first introduced by D.V. Burrell's Seed Company in 1904 and now nearly extinct. After extensive searching, we located the variety in the Seed Saver's Exchange collection and spent 3 years increasing the seed. Heavy yielding medium size oval-shaped melon averaging 6" long and 4.5" in diameter. Gray netting with slight ribbing and tough rind, make it a durable shipper. The seed is tightly held in a small three-lobed cavity. Thick meat, fine grain, sweet and juicy. Slips from vine when ripe. Grown by Pueblo Seed. Certified Organic. Direct sow. Plant spacing 24-36”. 95 days.
