HEIRLOOM. A heritage hard red winter or spring wheat that was brought from Ukraine to Ontario, Canada and grown out by David Fife in the early 1840s. Red Fife became the predominant variety on the Canadian plains and along the Rocky Mountains, including Colorado, for milling and baking until it fell out of favor for shorter, modern wheats. Very adaptable, drought tolerant, and an excellent, flavorful bread wheat. Direct sow in fall or early spring. Grown by Pueblo Seed. Certified Organic
